Methodology

How We Review Contractors

Transparent evaluation standards so you know exactly what goes into our recommendations.

Our Process

What People Report

We listen to what homeowners actually experience, then verify it through multiple sources.

Professional roof inspection examination showing condition assessment and detailed review

Verified Work Quality

We review completed projects through customer feedback and performance records. Quality work stands out consistently across reviews and follow-up assessments.

Business Credentials

Current licensing, active insurance coverage, and clear business registration matter. We verify these directly rather than relying on claims.

What customers consistently report: Contractors who communicate clearly, arrive on time, complete projects within quoted timelines, and stand behind their work. These aren't marketing promises—they're patterns in what people actually experience.
Analysis

Patterns Worth Noting

When you review dozens of customer experiences, reliable patterns emerge.

1

Timeline Consistency

Contractors we recommend don't typically miss completion dates by weeks or months. Delays happen, but honest communication before they become problems is the actual indicator.

2

Communication Style

Responsive contractors answer questions within 24 hours. They explain work in terms homeowners understand, not industry jargon. They document decisions in writing.

3

Warranty Coverage

Quality contractors back their work with specific, written warranties. They're confident enough to put that commitment in writing, and they honor it when issues arise.

4

Long-Term Relationships

The best contractors have customers who call them back for follow-up work years later. That repeat business is earned, not purchased.

5

Professional Handling of Issues

Problems arise in any project. How contractors respond—acknowledging the issue, fixing it promptly, making it right—matters far more than perfection.

Honesty

What We Don't Recommend

Sometimes experience shows us exactly who not to recommend.

Unresolved Complaints: When we find complaints that weren't addressed—unpaid deposits, completed work that failed quickly, or customers who were ignored—we disqualify those contractors. This is non-negotiable.
Documentation Issues: Contractors without current licensing or insurance, or those who push to work without contracts, create risk you shouldn't take on. We don't recommend them regardless of past work quality.
Communication Gaps: When multiple reviews mention that a contractor disappeared mid-project, didn't respond to calls, or surprised customers with additional costs, that's a clear pattern. We wait for behavior to change before reconsidering.
Warranty Avoidance: Contractors who refuse written warranties or immediately disclaim their work create liability for you. We look for contractors confident enough to stand behind what they do.
Our standard is simple: Would we recommend this contractor to a close friend or family member? If the answer is anything less than genuine "yes," they're not on our list.
